The Pre Sessional Program commences 20 January 2022
This course equips students with mathematical skills to prepare them for graduate-level study in economics at the Crawford School of Public Policy. The course introduces and reviews fundamental mathematical techniques used in applied economics, including linear algebra, use of vectors, calculus, optimisation, integration, and dynamic systems.
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Set up and solve systems of linear equations in vector and matrix forms.
- Identify various characteristics of a function.
- Be proficient in applying the Lagrangian method of constrained optimisation.
- Master simple integration procedures.
- Understand and be able to analyse dynamic systems.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity.
