The advanced Ancient Greek minor provides students the opportunity to expand their proficiency in the Ancient Greek language, improving their grammar and ability to engage with unexpurgated Ancient Greek texts.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successfulcompletion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

become acquainted with and extend your command ofAncient Greek grammar and vocabulary; to enable you to increase your ability toread Ancient Greek with pleasure and understanding: some texts at sight, anytexts with the aid of dictionaries, grammars, translations, and textual notes;
develop skills in reading Ancient Greek, beginningwith the study of simplified texts and moving to focussed examination offoundational texts of the Greek and the Greco-Roman world;
study these texts against their historical andcultural background; and
promote approaches and methodologies for criticalthinking not only about the ancient sources but also the discourse of our ownworld.
