Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

1. Identify the theoretical knowledge and skills from relevant area(s) of academic study as applicable to the problem identified in the ‘real work’ environment;
2. Acquire evidence and information from complex sources as relevant to the problem in the “real work” environment;
3. Determine the appropriate information and evidence relevant to addressing the business problem;
4. Engage critically with the information and evidence to generate best solutions to the problem and of value in the decision-making by the employer/placement/community;
5. Engage effectively and professionally with multiple stakeholders within and outside the work/professional environment;
6. Critically reflect upon the value of lifelong learning processes provided through the internship experience; and
7. Communicate the knowledge, competencies and experience acquired through the internships to peers, academic, specialist and non-specialist audiences.

Placements

Students will be placed within a workplace for a period of time.

Other Information

Permission codes to enrol in the course will only be issued to students who are offered an internship placement through a competitive application process. Calls for applications are made approximately 3-4 months before the beginning of the semester. To apply for an internship, each prospective student must meet the eligibility requirements and have sufficient space in their programs of study for this elective.

Indicative Assessment

1. Typical assessment may include, but is not restricted to: Meetings with internship tutors (Hurdle), Initial Project Proposal, Workshop Reflections on the current internship project (2 reflections), Mid-Placement Evaluation by the Host, Final Internship Report, Final Placement Evaluation by the Host and Final Presentation (100) [LO 1,2,3,4,5,6,7]

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. Workload

For 6 units, student are expected to commit up to 130 hours towards the completion of this course, which include workshops, meetings with internship tutors, academic assessments and internship placement (120 hours). For 12 units, student are expected to commit up to 260 hours towards the completion of this course, which includes workshops, meetings with internship tutors, academic assessments and internship placement (240 hours).

You will need to contact the ANU College of Business and Economics to request a permission code to enrol in this course.
