Electronic and Communication Systems Minor

Electronic engineering is the fundamental discipline underpinning the design of modern technologies such as mobile phones and broadband wireless systems that are essential to everyday life and our future wellbeing. Electronic engineers not only design and build the electronic systems but also the communications and signal processing technologies and algorithms that are at the heart of the digital world. This minor provides students with essential knowledge for anyone considering a career in electronic engineering. It provides training and diversity of experiences in both hardware and theoretical aspects of modern electronic and communication systems.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Professionally apply systematic engineering methods to design optimised and sustainable solutions to complex, multi-disciplinary real-world engineering problems.
  2. Formulate and evaluate solutions to engineering problems in the field of electronics and communications technologies by selecting and applying theoretical principles and methods from the underpinning physical, mathematical and information sciences.
  3. Proficiently apply advanced technical knowledge and appropriate tools in electronics and communications technologies.
  4. Identify and critically evaluate current developments and emerging trends within the field of electronics and communications technologies
