This course provides an opportunity for Masters students to apply and develop professional skills in a range of laboratories and service facilities at the ANU. This course offers opportunities to network with professional staff and organisations, to acquire skills, knowledge and professional attributes which will facilitate future employment and career outcomes. The practicum will be under the direct supervision of a workplace professional, within the ANU College of Science and Medicine or elsewhere as approved by the convenor.
The internship is expected to be on a topic of professional interest to the student and the supervising workplace.

Workload
For the 130 hours (6 units), 260 hours (12 units), 520 hours (24 units) over the relevant semester or session, in consultation with your supervisor and course convener, made up of approximately:
- 90 hours (6 units), 190 hours (12 units), 390 hours (24 units) of placement at the Host workplace.
- 30 hours (6 units), 60 hours (12 units) and 120 hours (24 units) of independent study (which includes the regular meetings with supervisors and required inductions).
- 10 hours (6, 12 & 24 units) of career development activities.

Prescribed Texts
Where appropriate, students will be assigned additional readings by their ANU or Host Supervisors depending on their project and background knowledge.
