Clinical Coursework IV comprises a number of sub-courses covering more advanced and specialised topics in clinical theory and practice such as

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Understand the effects of chronic illness and changes in a person’s health status on their emotions, thinking and behaviour and recognize the factors that are likely to underpin positive and negative changes in health-related behavior and the promotion of healthy behavior.
- Undertake a range of clinical psychological interventions in contributing to the treatment of physical health conditions.
- Appreciate the evidence-based management of common psychological problems in medical clients.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of neuropsychological disorders and neuropsychopathology on assessment and treatment of mental health disorders.
- Demonstrate the skills to plan and conduct an initial neuropsychological assessment interview based on referral information.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide basic oral feedback of results of cognitive assessment to a client and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of neuropsychological assessment in children, adolescents, adults and older adults and an understanding of how to interpret and utilise neuropsychological assessment reports.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic psychopharmacology and how medications are used to treat psychological problems.
- Apply advanced psychological knowledge to culturally responsive interventions in the area of clinical psychology.

Other Information
Enrolees must be eligible for registration as a psychologist in the ACT. This course is assessed on a Course Requirement Satisfied (CRS) or Fail basis. Students must satisfactorily complete all assessment tasks in order to pass the course.

- Neuropsychology for Clinical Psychologists: Providing feedback in a simulated exercise (30%); Utilising a neuropsychological report (30%); Review of cognitive remediation report (30%); Psychopharmacology quiz (10%) (50) [LO 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9]

Workload
This course is comprised of submodules. The face-to-face/contact hours for each submodule may vary, but are expected to consist of:
- Health Psychology: 3 hours/week (36 hours over the semester)
- Neuropsychology for Clinical Psychologists: 2 day workshop followed by 3 hours/week (44 hours over the semester)
Plus a minimum 180 hours of self-directed study and several mandatory workshops.
