This course will provide the knowledge and skills required to undertake research and utilize scientific literature in professional practice settings.
You will learn about research methods, statistical analyses and relevant software as well as ethical frameworks relevant to the conduct of psychological research.
You will also learn to synthesize and interpret scientific literature relating to professional practice.

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of major research methods, ethics and statistical analyses used in professional psychology.
- Analyse and interpret data relevant to applied research.
- Systematically and critically review and interpret a body of psychological research literature.
- Demonstrate effective and efficient communication skills in a variety of media.

This course is assessed on a Course Requirement Satisfied (CRS) or Fail basis. Students must satisfactorily complete all assessment tasks in order to pass the course.

Workload
The expected workload will consist of approximately 130 hours throughout the semester including:
- Face-to face component which may consist of 3 hours of face-to-face activities including lectures and/or workshops per week.
- Approximately 94 hours of self-directed study which will include preparation for lectures, presentations and other assessment tasks.
Please note that this course, as part of the Master of Professional Psychology program, may be delivered in more intensive formats where pedagogically appropriate. Students should ensure they are familiar with timetabling for each semester to plan appropriately.
