The Biological Anthropology Honours Specialisation gives you high-level preparation for professional life or a higher degree by research through the development of an advanced knowledge of the research principles and methods and theoretical concepts of biological anthropology, and through the design and implementation of a research project, typically a thesis of up to 20,000 words, that develops new understandings or that provides solutions to complex problems.

Learning Outcomes

pose a significantresearch question relating to biological anthropology;
investigate thisquestion creatively, critically, ethically, and independently, includingthrough sophisticated use of appropriate theory and methodology as appropriateto biological anthropology, and place these investigations in the context ofthe relevant intellectual tradition; and

Archaeology

Biological Anthropology

Biology

Environmental Studies

Psychology

2. with the following courses or equivalent: BIAN3014; and

3. with the written approval of an identified supervisor for the thesis.

This Honours specialisation requires the completion of 48 units, which must consist of:

48 units from the completion of the following course(s):

BIAN4011 - Data Analysis and Methods in Biological Anthropology (6 units)

BIAN4010 - Theory Seminar in Biological Anthropology and Archaeology (12 units)

ARCH4003 - Archaeology and Biological Anthropology Honours Writing Seminar (6 units)

THES4103 - Thesis (24 units)
