This specialisation provides students with an understanding of the increasingly complex global and domestic commercial environment in which individuals, businesses and corporations operate. Through a flexible range of courses, students examine the governance, regulation and operation of private legal relationships, commercial transactions and business entities, as well as legal issues arising in domestic and cross-border commercial activity.
The specialisation develops strong analytical and research skills in private and commercial law, preparing students for careers in private practice, the private sector, regulatory agencies and government.
Learning Outcomes
- Review, analyse and synthesise knowledge from primary and secondary legal sources to critically evaluate private and commercial law and its social, ethical and cultural impacts.
- Undertake technical legal research and apply legal or interdisciplinary research methodologies to evaluate and synthesise findings and develop solutions to private and commercial law problems.
- Interpret and communicate private and commercial law knowledge to a variety of legal and non-legal audiences in a range of oral and written formats.
- Exercise independence and professional judgement, and critically reflect on personal, professional and ethical capability in private and commercial law.
