The aim of this 12 unit course is to prepare students for undertaking the thesis component of the Doctor of Diplomatic Studies (DDiplS) program.
- the components of the coursethat will apply to all the students, for example, research methods, will be delivered in small reading groups and seminars facilitiates by academcis at the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomay.
- In addition, each student will participate in one-to-one discussions with APCD academics on readings that pertain to the specific thesis topic - most of which will be selected jointly by the student and academic.
- The emphasis will be on active interaction between the student group and with the academics.

Indicative Assessment
The course is worth 25% of the coursework component (which comprises 50% of the DDiplS). To achieve the DDiplS degree students must: achieve a pass grade minimum in the Diplomatic Doctoral Research Preparation course; and complete and pass each course in the coursework component.
Essays will be worth 60% and exams, 40%.

Workload

The course is based on the assumption that, since candidates require a Masters degree and extensive professional background to be eligible for entry to the program, they will mostly need to acquire a working knowledge of the methodologies required for conducting doctoral level research in diplomatic studies.Fees
