In this course students will gain a deeper understanding of the physical mechanisms that determine the performance of solar cells, leading to the design of advanced solar cells. The course will make extensive use of computer modeling and will also cover the interface between theory and experiment by overviewing recent technological advances in the field of solar cells and how they can be implemented into advanced solar cell design.

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

Upon completion of this course students will be able to identify the physical mechanisms that determine the performance of solar cells. They will be able to apply advanced modeling techniques to analyse and predict performance of advanced solar cell designs.

Indicative Assessment

Combination of labs, assignments and an exam with the majority of the weight on the exam.

Requisite and Incompatibility

To enrol in this course you must have completed ENGN6524 and ENGN6334 and be studying Master of Engineering 7710 or 7709 or 7711
