Selected topics, normally fourth year honours and postgraduate courses, may be made available to undergraduate students. Interested students should consult the year coordinator or attend the honours course meeting on first Monday of each semester.

Note: This is an HPC. Students wishing to take topics in this course will be expected to have outstanding results in third year Honours Pathway Courses.

1. Advanced knowledge of a special topic in the mathematical sciences and its role in modern mathematics and applied contexts.


2. Demonstrate accurate and efficient use of specific techniques from the mathematical sciences.


3. Demonstrate capacity for mathematical reasoning through analysing, proving and explaining concepts from the mathematical sciences.

4. To be able to critically read journal articles and conduct some independent research under the supervision of the lecturer.

Indicative Assessment

Three to five assignments (worth 15% - 9% each; LO 1-4)

Final examination (55%; LO 1-4)

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity.
