This course allows students to build on the language skills and understandings they have developed in AUST1001 to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in an Indigenous Australian language, and to develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the relation between language, culture and society in the community of the speakers.
This course may be offered on campus or on-country (location(s) to be advised for each offering), and delivered over the course of a semester or in intensive mode. This course is available for cross-Institutional enrolment.

- Demonstrate communicative skills allowing them to discuss some topics confidently in the Indigenous language
- Read and understand texts in an Australian Indigenous language
- Write texts in an Australian Indigenous language
- Discuss socio-cultural, traditional and modern practices specific to the Indigenous Australian community speaking the language concerned.
- Reflect on how their understanding of Indigenous Australian languages has deepened.
