The course examines the major developments in postwar European cinema through a detailed study of representative films by a number of key European filmmakers. Directors studied will include Ingmar Bergman, Roman Polanski, Federico Fellini, Luis Bunuel, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Andrei Tarkovsky, Werrner Herzog, and Krzysztof Kieslowski.
