This course introduces students to intermediate hot glass working and finishing techniques. Course assignments foster the acquisition of intermediate skills in glass blowing, and extend to colour work, component making and cold working. Theme-based projects encourage students to investigate materials and explore developing concepts, informed by technical knowledge. Integrated demonstrations, lectures and course discussions provide students with a broader understanding of hot shop based techniques and practices, in the areas of craft, design and visual arts. Occupational health and safety instruction is integrated throughout the syllabus.

Indicative Assessment
Portfolio of studio work (80%) [LO 1, 2, 3]and Journal/Documentation/Studio Theory presentation (20%) [LO 3, 4].
Feedback on work in progress is provided during class and at mid semester review session. Final assessment will be based on presented completed works, journals, tests and models.
