This course is designed to be an introductory course in Chinese-English interpretation. It will introduce three different forms of interpretation, including simultaneous interpretation, consecutive interpretation and sight interpretation. The course is intended to equip students with some basic interpretation skills and to serve as a foundation course for more advanced Chinese-English translation courses.
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:On the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Apply basic skills in interpreting from Chinese into English and vice versa;
2. Judge and critique the quality of an accomplished interpretation;
3. Access and make use of frequently-used software to edit audio or visual files;
4. Demonstrate the ability to handle the practical task of interpretation.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity.
