This course introduces Design Arts Students to kiln-casting processes, and fosters advanced skill acquisition in glass fusing and cold finishing techniques. Set projects introduce Design-based themes and aim to develop student’s ability to integrate material and process investigations with Design-based concepts. Lectures and group discussions assist students locate their developing Design methodology within the broader field of craft and design practice. Occupational health and safety instruction is integrated throughout the syllabus.

Indicative Assessment
Portfolio of studio work (80%) [LO 1, 2, 3]and Journal/Documentation/Studio Theory presentation (20%) [LO 3, 4].
Feedback on work in progress is provided during class and at mid semester review session. Final assessment will be based on presented completed works, journals, tests and models.
