Program Requirements
The Graduate Certificate of Business Information Management requires the completion of 24 units, which must consist of:
12 units from completion of the following compulsory courses:

INFS7040 Electronic Commerce for Managers
12 units from completion of courses from the following list:
BUSN7008 Financial Statements and Reporting
BUSN8062 Managing Major Projects: The Cross-Boundary Project Executive
COMP6340 Networked Information Systems
COMP6470 Special Topics in Computing
INFS7004 Accounting Information Systems
INFS8004 Enterprise Systems and Business Process Management
INFS8205 Information Systems Strategy and Management
MGMT7030 Management and Organisations
Admission Requirements
A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with an average mark of at least 65%
All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students

This program offers the opportunity for IT professionals to develop their skills in data management, business process management, systems oriented architecture and systems development. The program has been developed in collaboration with NICTA and with input from an industry reference group to cater for two categories of student: IT professionals seeking to develop skills that will enable them to take a strategic approach to the development of IT solutions, and non-IT personnel who need to understand IT development from a strategic management perspective.
The program is taught by research active academic staff. Students are exposed to professional and scholarly academic information systems research and coursework, enhancing their academic and professional competence.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:
- Identify, interpret and analyse stakeholder needs, establish priorities and the goals, constraints and uncertainties of the system (social, cultural, legislative, environmental, business etc), using systems thinking, while recognising ethical implications of professional practice.
- Apply problem solving, design and decision making methodologies to develop components, systems and/or processes to meet specified requirements, including innovative approaches to synthesise alternative solutions, concepts and procedures, while demonstrating information skills and research methods.
- Apply abstraction, mathematics and discipline fundamentals to analysis, design and operation; use appropriate computer software, laboratory equipment and other devices; ensure model applicability, accuracy and limitations.
- Communicate and coordinate proficiently by: listening, speaking, reading and writing English for professional practice; working as an effective member or leader of diverse teams; using basic tools and practices of formal project management.
- Manage own time and processes effectively by prioritising competing demands to achieve personal and team goals, with regular review of personal performance as a primary means of managing continuing professional development.
