Program Requirements
The Graduate Certificate of Economics requires the completion of 24 units, which must consist of:
18 units from completion of the following compulsory courses:
ECON7073 Microeconomic Principles for Economic Policy
ECON7074 Macroeconomic Principles for Economic Policy
STAT7055 Introductory Statistics for Business and Finance
6 units from completion of a course from the following list:
ECHI1006 The Australian Economy: Past and Present
EMET7001 Introduction to Analysis of Economic Models and Data

Admission Requirements
A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with an average mark of at least 65%.
All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students

The Graduate Certificate of Economics is designed to provide a foundation in economics for whose prior economics training is minimal or nonexistent. The Graduate Certificate will be attractive to those whose present or intended career calls for them to understand and appreciate economic discussion and analysis.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:
- understand the economic principles that underpin modern economics;
- undertake elementary economic analysis;
- communicate analytical reasoning in writing; and
- to provide economic intuition for the evaluation of economic policy using basic economic analysis
Further Information
Students who are intending to progress to the Graduate Diploma of Economics or the Master of Economics, Master of Applied Economics and Master of Economic Policy are required to complete EMET7001 instead of ECHI1006.For Domestic Students applying through UAC: If you have completed an overseas qualification, please send a scanned copy of your original testamur (graduation certificate) and academic transcript through to info.cbe@anu.edu.au. The scanned documents should be in colour and unaltered in size. Please include your name and UAC number in the email.

This program requires the completion of 4 courses (24 units), and would typically be undertaken full-time in one semester.
Enrolment Status
While it is possible for domestic students to enrol in fewer courses per semester, ie. undertake part-time study, it will take you longer to complete your program. International students must undertake full-time study.
