This course complements the suite of existing core courses offered by the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy. The topics offered each year will vary in response to current issues and emerging research. Details of the topic(s) of the coming year are available from the convenor.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

On successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Display an advanced knowledge of the topic details and underlying themes through written work as well as individual and group presentation and simulated exercises
  2. Critically analyze the theories and policies specific to the topic
  3. Research and apply the related theories and practices in class activities and future work

Indicative Assessment

Online tasks - 15%
Short Essay (1500-2000 words) - 35%
Major Essay (3000 words) - 50%

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students.
