Students enrolled in the Cultural and Environmental Heritage sub-plan of the Liberal Arts program may seek the approval of the program coordinator to undertake an independent research project. The course enables students to undertake an independent research project. The aim of the project is to allow students to apply the conceptual and methodological skills they have developed in the program to a particular research question or case study linked to their academic or professional interests.

Indicative Assessment
5000-6000 words of written assessment or project-based work. The nature of the inquiry will be established at the commencement of the teaching period through a written proposal that will be developed in consultation between the student and supervising lecturer and then submitted to the program coordinator for formal approval.The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students.
