Admission requires an approved bachelor degree in a science, engineering or related discipline with a minimum GPA of 4/7 and with at least one programming course and two mathematics courses in the areas of discrete mathematics, calculus, linear algebra and statistics.
Students without a degree but who have at least three years relevant work experience, or a combination of qualifications and experience, may also receive admission.
All students who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Computing are eligible for associate membership with the Australian Computer Society. Students completing the Graduate Diploma in Computing with a Distinction average may be granted one year of status to the Master of Computing.

You will gain a strong foundation to do more advanced study in the computing discipline. Students completing the Graduate Diploma in Computing with a Distinction average may be granted one year of credit into the Master of Computing.

The Graduate Diploma of Computing is a one year full time program accredited for associate membership with the Australian Computing Society. It will educate science/engineering/technology graduates in modern aspects of computing to provide a route for them in the Information Technology industry and
a foundation to study more advanced computing disciplines.
- This degree requires the completion of 48 units
- 18 units are compulsory courses
- 12 units of programming courses
- 18 units of additiional approved courses which must include 6 units of 6000/8000-level COMP
This degree can be followed by a Master of Computing with up to 48 units of advanced standing for students who meet the requirements of a 70% Distinction average.
About this degree
- Typically students will enrol in 24 units per semester (four courses).
- Domestic students are able to enrol in fewer courses each semester which is called studying part time. It will extend the duration of the degree and there are limitations to how long you can take to complete the degree
- If you are an international student you must always study full time.

- You need to enrol in courses for both First Semester and Second Semester
- You can’t study more than four courses (24 units) per semester, eight for the year.
