Thi course builds on skill acquired in ARTV2921 Environment Studio 1 to extend student's capacity to work as artists in the field. Through field excursions, students develop their understanding of fieldwork methodologies and their application for realising field-based reserach in the visual arts. This course is offered as either an intensive or as a semester-long program.

  2. Demonstrate a developed capacity to apply creative processes in the field and the studio to data gathered in the field
  3. Show a developed awareness of the environmental, cultural and social issues informing field research and associated creative production 

Indicative Assessment

Portfolio of studio work (60%) [LOs 1-3]

Documentation (40%) [LOs 1, 3]: this could include visual diaries, field notes, preparatory sketches, photographs, video footage, etc

Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessions that provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. Workload

Semester length delivery - 130 hours of total student learning time made up from: a) 48 hours of contact over 12 weeks: lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice; and b) 82 hours of independent studio practice, reading and writing. Intensive delivery - 130 hours of total student learning time made up from: a) 52 hours of contact: lectures and tutorials, delivered intensively over 14 days, inclusive of a 5 day field trip; and b) 78 hours of independent studio practice, reading and writing.

Requisite and Incompatibility

To enrol in this course you must have completed ARTV2921. Also, you cannot enrol in this course if you have previously completed ARTV2022.
