This Special Topics course will cover a specific material in dynamic programming and stochastic processes as they apply to economics.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Develop a deep understanding of dynamic programming techniques from introductory dynamics to stochastic dynamic programming.
- Learn in depth about the theory of stochastic processes and their applications to economics.
- Be able to incorporate programming and mathematics into a set of economic models that gives rise to applications.
- Learn the foundational applications of dynamic programming techniques and Markov processes such as optimal savings rates, job search and asset pricing.
Indicative Assessment
Specified by Convenor (will have at least 2-3 assessments pieces, with the first assessment scheduled and with feedback received by week 6).The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. For additional information regarding Turnitin please visit the ANU Online website.
