Foundations of Management adopts a functional framework using overarching managerial functions such as planning and decision making; organising; leading; controlling; and special topics in management. Specific issues covered include the management processes; understanding internal and external environments; social responsibility and ethics in management; goals, plans and strategies; organisation development and change; organisational structure and design; training, performance appraisal and career development; high performance teams; controlling the organisation; personnel selection; and occupational stress.
The primary aim of this course is to provide an overview of the theories and practices of management in organisational contexts. A secondary aim is to provide students with sound knowledge of the organization phenomenon and organizational system processes and train them for successful fulfilment of their management role

Outcome 5: write a scholarly essay, drawing on cutting edge contemporary management literature on a selected management topic.
Other Information
International students who wish to enrol in the online course should confirm that visa conditions allow them to do so. Generally international students can complete no more than 25% of their program by distance and/or online learning. For example, for a two year program of 16 courses, no more than four courses can be completed online.
In addition, all international students must be enrolled in at least one subject that is not by distance and/or online for every semester of their program. If you have any questions please seek program advice from the College.
The Semester 2 classes (both online and on campus modes) are only available to students studying in Australia.
