Admission Requirements

Admission to all programs is on a competitive basis. Admission to undergraduate degrees is based on meeting the ATAR requirement or an equivalent rank derived from the following qualifications:
- An Australian year 12 qualification or international equivalent; OR
- A completed Associate Diploma, Associate Degree, AQF Diploma, Diploma, AQF Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate or international equivalent; OR
- At least one standard full-time year (1.0 FTE) in a single program of degree level study at an Australian higher education institution or international equivalent; OR
- An approved tertiary preparation course unless subsequent study is undertaken.

Prerequisites

ACT:  Specialist Mathematics (Major/Minor) (160+)/Specialist Methods(Major/Minor) (160+), NSW: Mathematics Extension 1 (Band E3) or equivelant. More information about interstate subject equivalencies can be found here.

Adjustment Factors

ANU offers rank adjustments for a number of adjustment factors, including for high achievement in nationally strategic senior secondary subjects and for recognition of difficult circumstances that students face in their studies. Rank adjustments are applied to Bachelor degree applicants with an ATAR at or above 70. Points are awarded in accordance with the approved schedules, and no more than 15 points (maximum 5 subject/performance-based adjustments, maximum 10 equity-based adjustments and maximum 5 Elite Athlete adjustments) will be awarded. This program commences in July/August each year at National University of Singapore.

You will spend half of this four-year degree at the National University of Singapore and half of this degree at Australian National University receiving a world-class education at both institutions.

  2. Interpret the accounts and financial statements of companies and financial institutions.

  3. Describe the fundamental concepts of micro and macroeconomics.

  4. Apply mathematical statistics, regression modeling and other statistical techniques to actuarial problems

  5. Describe and apply stochastic processes, survival models and their application in actuarial contexts

  6. Model and value cashflows dependent on death, survival, illness, retirement, and other contingencies

  7. Apply risk modelling techniques across a variety of financial contexts

  8. Analyse and interpret specific business situations so that the correct actuarial and other techniques can be applied

  9. Utilise critical thinking to solve specific actuarial problems and communicate their results to a relevant audience

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours in Actuarial Studies and Economics) enables students to undertake a sequence of accredited courses that satisfy certain educational requirements of the Actuaries Institute. ANU Application deadline
The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours in Actuarial Studies and Economics) will be commencing in Semester 2 (July) only each year.

 Applications close by 6th January 2019 (11:55pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time).

 ANU Acceptance deadline:  28th  Feb 2019

NUS Application deadline: 29th March 2019

All ANU applicants must also enrol at NUS  as exchange students and register with the NUS accommodation services. Upon acceptance at the ANU, they should submit an application to NUS (via here) under the the ‘International Applicants- Please select the ‘Indian Standard 12 (Others) qualification’’.

Enrolment Status

This program commences in the second semester (July) in Singapore (NUS). Students will study the first 3 semesters at NUS, followed by 4 semesters at ANU and then the final semester at NUS. Students are to be enrolled at both ANU and NUS.   

You should fill the enrolment form (http://www.anu.edu.au/files/resource/Enrolment-Change-Editable.pdf)  to enrol for the ANU: CBEA5921 Exchange ANU CBE  (24 units) for each of first three semesters.
