Clinical Coursework II comprises a number of sub-courses covering a range of topics designed to further advance the students’ knowledge of clinical theory and practice and relevant research methodology such as:
- Psychopathology and Intervention II (Substance Use Disorders; Personality Disorders)
- Clinical Research Methods

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Understand the psychological theories of the aetiology, progression and/or recovery, precursors and sequelae of personality and substance use disorders and use evidence-based assessments to evaluate personality and substance use disorders.
- Employ Dialectical Behaviour Therapy techniques and strategies to treat personality disorders.
- Utilise evidence-based e-health practices in the understanding and management of psychological disorders.
- Demonstrate competences in doing evidence based practice pertaining to clinical practice and decision making
- Demonstrate competencies in the design of a clinically relevant research project.
- Demonstrate an understanding of advanced psychometric approaches and competency in the development of a psychological scale.
Other Information
Enrolees must be eligible for registration as a psychologist in the ACT. This course is assessed on a Course Requirement Satisfied (CRS) or Fail basis. Students must satisfactorily complete all assessment tasks in order to pass the course.

- Clinical Research Methods: Evidenced-based practice tasks (hurdle); Research proposal presentation (30%); Research proposal report (30%); Scale construction assignment (40%) (50) [LO 1,2,3,4,5,6]

Workload
This course is comprised of submodules. The face-to-face/contact hours for each submodule may vary, but are expected to consist of:
- Psychopathology and Intervention II: 2-3 hours/week plus 1-day workshop (28-42 hours over the semester)
- Clinical Research Methods: 2-3 hours/week (24-36 hours over the semester)
Plus a minimum 182 hours of self-study and several mandatory workshops..
