The Spanish minor provides students with the skills needed to develop an ability to understand, speak, read and write Spanish. Students are exposed to Spanish as used across the Spanish-speaking world, and a wide variety of sources are drawn on. In this way, different cultural expressions of the Spanish-speaking world are incorporated into the classes to enhance the language-learning experience. Students also have the opportunity to deepen their understanding and strengthen their language skills through specialist courses in Hispanic linguistics and Hispanic literatures. Students with existing knowledge of Spanish can begin at a more advanced level, and the exact sequence of courses depends on the level at which the student begins the minor.
