This course allows students to pursue a special accounting-related topic to gain knowledge in an area not covered by other accounting courses.

Depending on the topic, students may be required to participate in lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, discussion groups, and/or other activities; to undertake a guided reading program including key seminal papers and current developments; and/or to develop and implement a research plan under the supervision of an academic member of staff.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of current issues and techniques relevant to the topic
  2. Analyse and appraise complex issues, formulate well-reasoned and coherent arguments and reach well considered conclusions
  3. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Workload

Students taking this course are expected to commit 130 hours to complete the work. This will typically include time spent in scheduled classes and self directed course reading, research, writing and assessment work.
