Thesis course for a Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Critically analyse, synthesise and evaluate complex information in a specific area relevant to their research;
  2. Formulate hypotheses, a research plan and undertake independent research to address specific research questions that make a substantial contribution to knowledge;
  3. Develop, adapt and implement research methodologies relevant to their research questions;
  4. Demonstrate expert technical skills relevant to their specific research focus;
  5. Communicate effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences in both written and oral form;
  6. Demostrate appropriate collegial and professional behaviour and safe working practices as required by their specific research focus.

Indicative Assessment

  1. Satisfactory progress will be continuously monitored via the supervisory panel and standard HDR milestones. Final assessment will be made through external examination of a research thesis. (100) [LO 1,2,3,4,5,6]
