This course allows for a special topic of study for individuals or small groups of students to study a Science topic abroad under the guidance of an ANU academic. Part of the course may be delivered at ANU before departure. Delivery of the course will potentially be a combination of lectures, field trips, workshops or practical work. The subject of topics will vary depending on offerings from the College of Health and Medicine or the College of Science. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Understanding of specialist bodies of knowledge within the Science discipline.
  2. Understanding and application of the scientific process to a specific field of science.
  3. Effective oral and written communication in professional and lay domains.

All students engage with WIL partners (internal/external) as a minor component of the course

To enrol in this course, students will need to send an expression of interest to subdean.science@anu.edu.au. Those students selected for enrollment will be informed and provided with a permission code.

Indicative Assessment

  1. Assessment of the special topics course will depend on the nature and structure of the course. The details of the project and assessment items will be negotiated and agreed upon prior to formal enrolment in the course. (100) [LO 1,2,3]

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity.
