This course explores approaches to painting via processes of drawing, collage, photography, and digital imaging, and emphasises the role of colour in composition. A series of exercises and projects students will learn the basic terminology and principles of painting, for example the dynamics of composition, the relations between picture plane and picture space, between colour and tone, illusion and materiality, etc. Students take skills learned in the first part of the course and develop an independent project in the second half of the course. Work health and safety (WHS) instruction is an integral component of this course.

Workload
