In this second introductory course students continue to develop basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the Russian language. Students are introduced to further aspects of life and culture of the Russian-speaking societies. The course incorporates principles of communicative and task-based language teaching.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- engage in simple communication of predictable content in spoken and written Russian about topics covered in the course;
- read and understand more complex texts;
- listen to/watch and understand more complex audio and video extracts; and
- demonstrate an understanding of further aspects of life and culture of the Russian speaking societies, including basic principles of culturally appropriate Russian language use.

Workload
130 hours of total student learning time made up from:
a) 48 hours of contact over 12 weeks, including recorded/online and tutorial activities,
b) 82 hours of independent student research, reading and writing.
