  • STEM Course

Students will conduct a small, one semester long (6-unit) project, under supervision, that in area of computing of mutual interest to the student and their supervisor. The project will involve applying and increasing the depth of the student's knowledge in some aspect of computing. The activities in the course will normally include some combination of reading, writing, project work and presentation, as appropriate to the topic. The specific learning objectives, project overview and assessment arrangements will be specified at the outset using the Project Registration Form.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Apply the student's knowledge and implementation skills in the in computer science for the project course, and apply this to a specific project topic in that area.
  2. Deepen their knowledge of computing through undertaking the project.
  3. Apply any specific technical skills required by their topic, and apply them to the project work.
  4. Apply relevant project-related skills, including project management and oral and written communication, and apply these to the project work.

Other Information

The course COMP3740 is a 6 unit project course. Students in COMP3740 may be required to share their personal information with a third party, including Host Organisations. 

 If you elect to work on a project with a Host, the College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics will provide the Host with your name, your ANU ID number, your Academic Degree Program Level (e.g. Master/ Bachelor/Honours) and your ANU email address, as required. ANU will share your personal information only to the extent necessary for you to undertake your group project course. 

If you do not wish to share your personal information as outlined above, please do not enrol in this course and consider enrolling in another course.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. Workload

No formal classtime is required in this course. Students will meet regularly with their supervisor througout the semester and are expected to complete 130 hours of work in total.

72 units of Tertiary courses Students will receive a permission code by completing the steps listed on Enrolling in student projects including the Student Project Registration Form.
