This course is designed to further develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in the Spanish language at the second part of the B1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course focuses on more advanced vocabulary, grammatical, pragmatic, and sociocultural aspects. The students will continue to develop their skills as autonomous learners and as a team members in task-based learning. The course is taught in Spanish.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- understand a range of short written, audio and visual texts in Spanish (such as short films, and podcasts) and interpret them in relation to the language and cultures of the Hispanic world;
- communicate spontaneously and clearly, incorporating new vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, pragmatic, and cultural components;
- produce clear written texts and speech expressing their critical evaluations of and opinions on a variety of topics;
- conduct guided research for projects on the language and cultures of the Hispanic world; and
- demonstrate increasingly broad expertise in critical thinking by extracting, synthesising and analysing information from a variety of basic cultural texts and communicating their own reactions, opinions and arguments.

Workload
130 hours of total student learning time made up from:
a) 48 hours of contact over 12 weeks, including recorded/online and tutorial activities, and
