Graduates with a specialisation in International Business will be provided with an overview of the principal issues and considerations in the growth and functioning of international businesses. The core courses in the specialisation aim to develop skills and competencies in international business relating to the international business environment, as well as strategic management, societal business systems, marketing and human resource management in an international business context.
Graduate Knowledge
Graduates with a specialisation in International Business will have a foundational knowledge of core international business concepts and practices, which will form the basis for independent lifelong learning.
Graduate Skills
Graduates with a specialisation in International Business will have:
- Skills to interact effectively with people from cultures other than their own, specifically in the context of international business;
- Skills to examine the contextual, organisational and managerial issues associated with the operation of multinational firms;
- Skills to manage the main issues in global supply chain management (SCM) to underline their strategic importance to firms; and,
- Skills to apply international business knowledge into and across international contexts.
In addition to these, students will also develop:
- Cognitive skills to review, analyse, consolidate and explore knowledge, and insights into relevant applications;
- Technical skills to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental applications with insight and creativity;
- Cognitive skills to exercise critical thinking, creative problem solving and evidence led judgement in recognising, and addressing problems; and,
- Communication skills to present concise and coherent exposition of knowledge, and to convey ideas in an appropriate language for business audiences.
Application of Knowledge and Skills
Graduates with a specialisation in International Business will demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills:
- with initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in professional practice and/or scholarship;
- to adapt knowledge and skills in diverse contexts; and,
