Students will learn the structure of glaze and the development of colour in a variety of glaze types and finishes. The development of the glaze and colour will be through various testing methodologies for example line blend, tri-axil blend, square blend & colour blends. The testing & development program will lead to the student developing their own palette of glazes.
Occupational health and safety instruction is an integral part of this course.

- Competently utilise a range of skills relevant to Ceramic Glaze and Colour development in response to Workshop projects
- Explore the potential of material/s used in Ceramic Glaze and Colour projects
- Investigate the inventive application of concepts and processes in relation to Glazes and Colour
- Engage with historical and theoretical contexts relevant to Ceramic projects
Indicative AssessmentGlaze testing program & studio work (80%) [LOs 1 – 5]
Journal/Documentation/Studio Theory presentation (20%). (1000 words) [LOs 2, 4, 5]
Assessment will be based on the Rubric for this course. Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessions that provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Workload4 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice.
