This course focuses on the integration of Design-based concepts and processes in advanced hot glass working and finishing. Demonstrations and course assignments introduce advanced hot glass techniques, from Venetian techniques to hot blow moulds; trouble-shooting methods and experimental approaches to working with hot glass. This course explores the potential of hot shop processes to inform design applications, small series, and team production. Lectures and group discussions expend students' knowledge of hot glass applications in contemporary practices in the fields of craft and design. Occupational health and safety instruction is integrated throughout the syllabus.
