This course is designed for Craft & Design students to develop and resolve a body of work through advanced making skills within an expanded collaborative environment. This course combines hands-on making with critical reflection and is designed to assist students as they develop their in-depth awareness of studio-based craft and design practice. The course will create a forum for students to work in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment as they explore and articulate ideas. Students will engage with set tasks and self-directed projects as they relate to their own developing practice/media through a series of responses that include drawing, models, presentations and written reflections. This will all be directed to realising resolved outcomes in the form of creative works.

  1. Locate their work and working methods within contemporary practice;
  2. Conceptualise and articulate their practice;
  3. Demonstrate in-depth understanding of practice-led research methodologies through drawing tests and models;
  4. Consolidate integration of concepts and processes through the production of completed creative works;
  5. Develop and present a body of work, tests and models.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. 4 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice for 13 weeks (Total 130 hours).

Requisite and Incompatibility

To enrol in this course you must have completed ARTV1101 AND ARTV1102; OR ARTV1901 AND ARTV1902; OR ARTV1202 OR ARTV1302 OR ARTV1402.
