Building on Graduate Music Research Project 1, this course will give graduate students an opportunity to complete an extended and focused piece of high-level written research on a musical topic. Topics will reflect the current research projects of the school and the wider community, and involve the development of skills in collaborative research.

1. conceptualise, implement, and project manage a piece of original research on a musical topic;
2. identify, locate, and access all key primary and secondary sources for the research;
3. analyse and synthesize data accurately drawing on multiple theories and research methodologies;
4. present a piece of research in a style and format suitable for submission to an academic journal; and
5. work independently with minimal supervision.
Indicative Assessment
