The objective of this course is to provide an evidence-based understanding of best practice in the management of people and organisations. As a research-led course it will explore a range of organisational behaviour theories.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Identify causes and consequences of organizational problems using the lens of organisational behaviour theories and findings (Ask + Remember)
  2. Summarize evidence about problems and solutions related to organizational behaviour (Acquire + Understand)
  3. Evaluate the quality of organizational behaviour research in a particular area (Appraise + Adapt)
  4. Synthesize concepts and findings in the area of organizational behaviour (Aggregate + Analyse)
  5. Consider social and ethical implications of evidence-based strategies to address organizational problems (Apply + Evaluate)
  6. Devise evidence-based strategies and recommendations to address an organizational problem (Assess + Create)

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Workload

Students taking this course are expected to commit 130 hours to completing the work. For semester length offerings this will typically include 3 hours per week in class and at least 7 hours a week on average (excluding non-teaching weeks) on course reading, research, writing and assessment work.


Where this course is offered in intensive delivery mode as a continuous block over a shorter period of time, the expected total time commitment for this course will be 130 hours.

Assumed Knowledge

This course is open to any student who has an interest in Organisational Behaviour.

Students studying a 2yr/96u Masters program in RSM that contain the Management Core Specialisation are suggested to first complete BUSI7280, MGMT7020, MGMT7250 and MKTG7260, so you have relevant foundational Management knowledge, as well as allowing easier transfer between programs if study interests change.
