Admission Requirements
A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with an average mark of at least 65%.
All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students
Applicants with a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 24 units (one semester) of credit.
Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 48 units (one year) of credit.
Students must pass and achieve a minimum 70% weighted average mark in the first 48 units attempted to remain enrolled in the Master of Commerce.

The Master of Commerce program offers a pathway to PhD study. Students with little background in commerce can still reach an advanced level of academic study. The program provides an advanced and in-depth level of study in one or more business or commerce disciplines, such as accounting, finance or business information systems.
The program is taught by research active academic staff. Students are exposed to professional and scholarly academic research in commerce, enhancing their academic competence. Students are also able to acquire research skills in commerce and to undertake independent research.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:
- Exercise independent judgement to evaluate business problems in complex contexts using social, ethical, economic, regulatory and global perspectives
- Integrate advanced theoretical and technical knowledge in business which includes a selection of issues in accounting, auditing and assurance, finance, economics, quantitative methods, information systems, commercial law, corporation law, taxation law and research methods in business related disciplines
- Critically apply theoretical, technical knowledge and research-based skills to evaluate and solve emerging and advanced business problems, and to conduct a research-based project
- Justify and communicate ideas in collaborative contexts, including interpretation and communication of theoretical issues to both specialist and non-specialists audience in business related disciplines
- Seek and reflect on performance feedback to identify and action learning opportunities and self-improvements and initiate this process for others

Single degree
Candidates must complete 96 units, including a research component.
Students must consult with the program convener before they proceed with the research component.
About this degree
Students must pass and achieve a minimum 70% weighted average mark in
the first 48 units attempted to remain enrolled in the Master of
Commerce. Students who do not achieve a minimum of 70% will be transferred to the
relevant Graduate Diploma.
Enrolment Status
It is possible to enrol in less than 24 units per semester but it will take you longer to finish your program and get your degree. If you are an international student you must always be enrolled full-time in 24 units each semester.
Remember you will need to enrol in courses for both First Semester and Second Semester. You will be able to change your enrolment in courses up until the end of week 2 of each semester without penalty.
